Wesley Thomas Kwaterski
Jume Jeanette (Casperson) Kwaterski

Grandpa Wes was born in Baileys Harbor on January 26, 1926 to Joe and Ethel Kwaterski. The family farmed in Baileys Harbor area for man years. After graduating from high school where he stared in various sports, he enlisted in the United States Army. He was a courageous machine gunner in the South Pacific. He received medals including the “Silver Star”. Upon returning home he graduated with a degree from barbering school. He then married my grandma June on September 3, 1950. He opened his own barber shop in Sister Bay in 1951. Wes was well know as the singing, golfing clipper for 49 years. He passed away during heart surgery o October 16, 1997. He was 71 years old.


Grandma June was born in Ellison Bay to Edwin and Julia (Johnson) Casperson on June 25, 1927. She spent her early years between Chambers Island and Ellison Bay. After graduating from high school she worked as a bookkeeper, secretary for Jungwirth Ace Hardware. She then went to work at Al Johnson’s Swedish Restaurant, first as a waitress and continued on for forty-seven years to Al’s right-hand lady. She spent many years of her life with severe back pain, but never complained. Grandma June (bug) passed on April 15, 2003. She was 75 years old.
